The first step is to figure out how many pennies would equal 1 million dollars.

Yes, that’s 100 million pennies.

The next step is to determine the weight of a single penny.

It’s important to note that not every single penny will weigh the same. Some of them will have wear over time and a dirty penny will weigh more than a clean penny.

But for this example, let’s assume all the pennies weigh the same as the difference is a very small amount.

In the USA, a single penny coin weighs 2.500 grams. Other coins like the nickel, dime, and quarter are not the same weight.

The next step is to take the number of pennies and multiply by 2.5 to get the weight in grams.

100,000,000 x 2.5 = 250,000,000 grams.

So you now know that 1 million dollars in pennies weigh 250,000,000 grams.

Now if you want to know how much weight that is in pounds, convert 250,000,000 grams into pounds by multiplying using a conversion factor of 0.0022.

250,000,000 x 0.0022 = 550,000 pounds.
