11 Tiny Things That Are Quite Heavy (Check Out #3)

It can be quite interesting to learn the weight of some of the smallest items in the world.

Most times when you think of tiny items, you assume that they are lightweight. But that is not always the case.

I did some research and decided to compile a list of 11 tiny items that are quite heavy.

1. Mini safe

A mini-safe is a small but heavy item that can be used to store small items such as jewelry, cash, and keys. Using a mini-safe will help keep your valuables from being stolen.

People will often use them for protection from identity theft or someone breaking into your home.

The average-sized mini-safe will have the dimensions of 10 x 8 x 8 inches which is a small size for something that weighs around 5-6 pounds.

2. Small clay brick

Clay bricks are used to create walls, buildings, and homes. Clay bricks are made from natural materials such as clay, sand, water, and straw.

These bricks are durable because they are fired in high-temperature kilns which makes them hard and strong.

They are very common and small in size having the average dimensions of 8 x 4 x 3 inches. Although they are quite small, the average clay brick can weigh between 3 – 3.5 kilograms or around 7 pounds.

3. Bar of gold (Kilobar)

Kilobars are gold bars commonly used for investments and trading outside of the largest markets.

Kilobars are flat in shape, but they can be found in a range of shapes and designs, including the typical flattened pyramid shape.

As their name suggests, kilobars are 1 kilogram or 1,000 grams in weight, which equals just over 32 troy ounces.

They can vary in size, but they’re usually about 1.5 inches wide, just over 3 inches long, and just less than an inch tall. Imagine holding a piece of gold that tiny which weighs over 2 pounds!

A paperweight is generally used to hold down papers on a desk. They are often found at the corner of the desk or in between stacks of papers so they can be picked up and moved around.

Paperweights come in many different shapes and sizes, with some even being decorative items that serve no function other than adding decoration to an office space.

Many paperweights are made out of glass and although they are just 2 or 3 inches in size, they will weigh around 2 pounds.

5. Roll of quarters

A roll of quarters is basically a stack of 25 cent coins all worth one quarter each. Keeping coins either in a plastic coin holder or paper roll will keep the coins organized and easy to count.

A roll of quarters is worth $10 and contains 40 quarters. Each quarter in the USA weighs 5.67 grams so 40 quarters weigh 226.8 grams. Each quarter is only 1.75 millimeters thick, therefore 40 quarters are 70 millimeters or 2.75 inches thick total.

6. Hockey puck

A hockey puck is a disk that is used to play ice hockey. The game of hockey was invented in Canada in 1875, the first recorded organized indoor game, and the very first written rules were published in Montreal’s “The Gazette” on March 3rd, 1877.

A gold Kilobar is only 3 inches long and 1.5 inches wide but weighs 1 kilogram!

8. Aquarium glass cleaning magnet

For anyone who keeps a home aquarium, you will know how difficult it can be to keep the glass clean. It’s common for algae to grow on the glass of aquarium walls and other pieces of equipment.

Aquarium glass cleaning magnets come in a variety of sizes and can be used for small and large aquariums. They will have 2 sides with a powerful magnet that cleans algae without you needing to get your hands wet.

The average size for these magnets is around 3 or 4 inches long and they can weigh around 500 grams.

9. Skeleton key

A skeleton key is a long metal tool that can unlock any lock. It’s often used in popular culture to symbolize the power to unlock anything, but it actually has a more practical use.

These keys were created centuries ago and have been around ever since. They are typically made of steel with varying lengths and thicknesses depending on what they are meant for.

The ones most commonly seen in literature or film today are usually about six inches long with rounded ends for easier insertion into locks without scratching the inside of the keyhole too much, but this wasn’t always true as there have been some variations over time.

The idea behind these tools came from the fact that locksmiths would need a way to get through locked doors when people had lost their keys.

Antique skeleton keys are commonly used as paperweights and can be around 1 or 2 pounds.

10. Deadbolt

A deadbolt is a lock that attaches to the doorjamb, fitting into the strike plate. This bolt secures the door from being opened when locked.

The most common type of deadbolt locks are keyed locks which can be unlocked by turning them with a key in either direction.

Many deadbolts are around 3-4 inches long and weigh close to 500 grams or just over 1 pound which is heavy for something so small.

11. Marbles

Marbles are a type of ball typically made of glass, clay, or agate that has been shaped and polished. They are used in games for children but they have also been used as decoration.

Marbles or marble stones were made in ancient times by heating limestone until molten and then blowing air through it into bubbles which would be flattened out by rolling on an iron surface.

Marbles were popularized as a toy in Victorian England when a company called John Jaques & Son invented the first machine to mass-produce them with uniform size, shape, weight, and color based on how much material was fed into the machine.

A small marble with a diameter of 1/2″, weighs around 0.16 ounces or 4.53 grams.
