If you are in the market for a new 32-inch tv, there are a variety of factors to take into consideration prior to purchase.
Most people will consider the weight of the tv as being one of the most important factors.
Of course, price, features, quality, are other factors.
Over time, TV’s have become more advanced and built with much lighter materials resulting in them being a fraction of the weight they were just a few years ago.
Larger TV’s are generally heavier than smaller TV’s and although a 32-inch tv is not considered to be large, knowing it’s weight is important for mounting options.
A 32-inch tv is generally light enough to be carried by one person and is normally used in a bedroom, den, kitchen, or small living room spaces.
The following list includes some of the lightest 32-inch TV’s on the market today.
How much does a 32-inch tv weigh?
On average, a 32-inch tv weighs between between 8 to 12 pounds without the stand. The overall weight of the tv will vary between brands and the stand will add between 1 to 3 pounds to the weight.
If you plan to wall mount the tv, the weight of the stand is not included. The weight of the mount will need to be added to the tv weight for a total weight.
As mentioned above, a 32-inch tv can be carried by one person. Larger TV’s like a 65-inch will need multiple people to carry safely.
How big is a 32-inch tv?
Depending on the brand and model of the tv, it’s dimensions can slightly vary. Not all 32-inch TV’s have the same dimensions. On average, a 32-inch tv has dimensions of 29 inches wide, 17 inches tall, and 2 inches thick. These dimensions are for the tv only without a stand.
If you plan on placing the tv on a wall mount, you won’t need to consider the size of the stand.
Most 32-inch TV’s will measure 32″ diagonally from corner to corner. This measurement is known as screen size and can vary.
The thickness of the tv frame will also need to be added to get an actual length and width of the tv.
Factors that affect the weight of a tv
TVs are constantly evolving and lighter materials are being used all the time during construction. The overall weight of a tv is based on several factors.
- Size of the tv – Larger TV’s generally weigh more but this is not always the case.
- Type of panel – OLED panels tend to be lighter than LCD and QLED.
- Additional features and components – The more features and additional components the tv has, the heavier it will be.
- Materials used during construction – A variety of materials are used during the construction of a tv. Glass, metal, and plastic are used with plastic being the lightest and glass and metal being heavier.

How much weight does a tv wall mount hold?
On average, a tv wall mount will support between 30-175 pounds. Although I have seen certain heavy-duty wall mounts hold up to 280 pounds.
The amount of weight a tv mount can hold varies and certain mounts are designed to hold higher weights. Each tv wall mount will have a maximum weight limit as shown by the manufacturer’s specifications. The weight limit will be clearly marked on the packaging.
Knowing that the weight of a 32-inch tv averages 8-10 pounds, you won’t have a problem finding a wall mount that is suitable.
