I was recently in the market for a new big screen tv and like most people, I had a difficult time deciding on what size to get.
Long story short, I ended up purchasing a 75 inch LG for my main living space.
One of the most important factors to consider before buying a new tv is the actual dimensions to ensure a proper fit in the space you choose.
You should know that not all 75-inch TVs are the same size.
They can vary based on the brand, frame design, and thickness.
The exact dimensions of a tv might not be a concern with smaller TVs, but if you are looking to set up a large tv in your home, a slight variation in size can be the main deciding factor.

75-inch tv dimensions
The 3 dimensions you need to consider when measuring tv size.
They are width, height, and depth or thickness.
Many large TVs are either wall-mounted or placed on a tv stand. If using a tv stand, you will need to consider its size as well.
The width is measured on the tv from side to side. Height is measured from top to bottom and depth is how thick the tv is from front to back.
The average dimensions of a 75-inch tv are 65 inches wide, 38 inches tall, and 2 inches thick. These measurements are for the tv only without a stand and as mentioned, the numbers can vary.
The dimensions of this LG 75-inch QNED90 tv are 65.6 inches wide, 40.5 inches tall, and 2 inches thick.
For me, a huge decision factor regarding size was the thickness of the frame on the tv. I wanted a very thin frame.
Some 75-inch TVs will have larger frames than others. A great thing about TVs these days is the frames are made much smaller than they used to be.
It was common to see a 3-4 inch frame on older-style flat-panel TVs. Today’s newer model TVs might only have a very thin frame size of under 2 inches.
The exact dimensions of my LG 75-inch tv 4K LED tv are 66.7″ W x 38.5″ H x 3.5″ D. These are the dimensions without the stand.
The stand will add an extra 10” to the overall width.
If you prefer to know the dimensions in centimeters, they are 169.42 W x 97.8 H x 8.9 D.
The diagonal screen size of a 75-inch tv is 190.5 centimeters.
Other 75-inch tv dimensions
As mentioned, not all 75-inch TVs will have the same dimensions. Here are some examples.

Will a 75-inch tv fit in my car or SUV?
One of the problems you may have when buying a large 75-inch tv is that it most likely won’t fit in your vehicle.
If you have a car or SUV, it probably will not fit.
Most cars can only fit a tv size up to 42 inches. Most medium to large-sized SUVs can handle up to a 55-inch tv size.
I own a SUV and had my 75-inch tv delivered by the store as there was no chance the box was going to fit.
So plan on having it delivered to your home if you own a car or SUV.
Best room size for a 75-inch tv
Once you get your new 75-inch tv home, you will have the option of either wall mounting or placing it on a stand. I decided to wall mount mine. It was easy to do.
You will need to ensure that your room size is suitable for a tv of this size. As mentioned, you should plan to sit about 9.6 feet away from a tv of this size.
The distance that you sit from your tv will impact the perceived picture quality. If you have a very large room and plan to sit further away than the recommended distance, you should consider a larger tv.
How far should I sit from a 75-inch tv?
There are a few things to take into consideration when determining how far away to sit from a 75-inch tv.
You need to consider the screen resolution, the size of the tv, the viewing environment, and type of program you are watching.
The recommended viewing distance for a high-definition tv should be 3 times the height of the tv.
For example, for a 75-inch tv with a height of 38.5 inches, you should sit 115.5 inches away from the tv.
38.5 inches x 3 = 115.5 inches. This is equal to 9.6 feet.
If your tv is smaller, you can sit closer and if the tv is larger, you should sit further away.
